Emily Nguyen - 2010 US Junior Open - U8 Champion (6.0)
Dang Nguyen - 4th (5.0)
Camille Kao - 1st place for under 800 rating (4.0)
•U8 team trophy:
Austin Kids Chess Club (Emily Nguyen, Dang Nguyen, Shreyes Kaliyur, Camille Kao, Collin Le, Glen Liu, Kerem Uslu, Andrew Lu, and Nhu Anh Nguyen)- 1st place overall
•U11 individual trophies:
Duy Nguyen - 2nd (5.0)
Anthony Nguyen - 1st place for 9 years old and under (4.5)
•U11 team trophies:
Canyon Vista Middle School (Mukund Pasapuleti, Dustin Chang, and Saavan Nanavati) - 1st place school
Laurel Mountain Elementary (Nathaniel Li, Louis Fernandez, and Kevin Huang) - 3rd place school
Although the Austin Kids Chess Club U11 team did not win a trophy, the team performed very well with .5 point behind the first overall team.
Other winners included those who gained a lot of rating points: Andrew Lu (+204), Kerem Uslu (+160), Mukund Pasapuleti(+146), Leonard Wang (+137), and Collin Le (+106).
I am really proud of our club members who did not give up and worked as a team. I have seen stronger players providing coaching and game analysis to others, and that is what we want to maintain.
